The Accessibility Support Fund is available to applicants who require significant assistance navigating ArtsNL’s online application system to complete a grant application, and/or a final report. This assistance would be outside the typical support offered by ArtsNL staff and led by a Service Provider selected by the applicant.
Accessibility Support for ArtsNL Granting Programs
Eligibility
Applicants to the ArtsNL Accessibility Support Fund must meet age and residency requirements, and the ArtsNL definition of a professional artist, professional not-for-profit arts group or organization, or a not-for-profit community-based arts organization or group. All applicants to the Accessibility Support Fund must first be registered on the ArtsNL online application system. A full list of these requirements is available on the ArtsNL website at http://www.nlac.ca/nlac-faq.htm#defproartist
Support can be requested from an eligible individual professional artist, the lead artist of a professional not-for-profit arts group, or the staff of a not-for-profit arts organization who self-identify as:
- Deaf, hard of hearing, having a physical, developmental, or learning disability,
- Living with mental or physical health issues,
- Indigenous artists facing language, geographic and/or cultural barriers,
- Speaking a native language that is not English and requiring assistance navigating and completing ArtsNL grant applications.
Submitting an Accessibility Support Request
This initiative is available for all granting programs operated by ArtsNL. Requests are accepted on an on-going basis. However, if you are requesting support to complete an application, requests should be made to the program manager/officer at least six weeks before the program’s application deadline.
Requests for Accessibility Support are processed by the ArtsNL program manager/officer.
The applicant must contact the ArtsNL program manager/officer to discuss the support needed and have the ArtsNL program manager/officer complete an Accessibility Support Form for the applicant.
Applicants can contact the ArtsNL program manager/officer via phone, in-person or videoconference meeting, or Bell Relay service. Communication with ArtsNL is offered in English.
How will the funding be used for your ArtsNL application?
Applicants approved for Accessibility Support must use the funds to cover the costs of assistance from a Service Provider for ArtsNL grant applications and final report completion. A Service Provider is a person who assists an applicant with the ArtsNL application and final report process (if a ArtsNL grant application is successful). Services required may include transcription, assistance navigating ArtsNL’s online application system, helping an applicant formulate their project description and organize the application, ASL interpretation, etc.
Accessibility Support for ArtsNL Granting Program Payment
After the applicant has been notified their Accessibility Support application has been approved, the applicant must provide ArtsNL with the contact information for their Service Provider, including a phone number and email address. Payments will be provided to the Service Provider via direct deposit within 2-4 weeks of ArtsNL receiving an invoice for services completed. An ArtsNL grant application must be completed on the ArtsNL application system for an invoice to be processed. If a grant application is successful and a final report is required, the service provided will need to submit a second invoice for support to complete that document with the applicant.
Accessibility Support Fund Maximums
Eligible applicants may receive up to $500 in a fiscal year (April 1 – March 31). If a grant application is successful, the applicant can apply for an additional $150 for support to complete and submit the necessary final report.
