No. Self-nominations are not accepted.
Yes. Keep in mind you must submit one nomination form per nominee.
Yes. You may nominate the same person across more than one award category, but you must submit separate nomination forms for each category.
The Emerging Artist Award recognizes artists in the early stages of their professional careers. Age is not a determining factor; however, artists who have received professional project grants through ArtsNL in the established artist category do not qualify as "emerging."
If the person you want to nominate is already nominated in the award category of choice, consider nominating another individual deserving of the award.
Multiple nominations for the same person do not increase an individual’s chances of winning an award. If more than one nomination is submitted for the same individual in the same category, only the first complete nomination received for that individual will be considered.

Yes. Nominations are open to all eligible professional artists, regardless of whether they have received funding from ArtsNL.
You cannot nominate someone in an award category in which they have previously won an award. For a list of past recipients, click here.

No—as a nominator, there is no residency requirement. However, residency requirements may apply to the nominee, depending on the award category. Be sure to review our award information pages before submitting your nomination.
Yes, the nominee must grant permission for you to nominate them—this gives them a say in their nomination and ensures accuracy. Nominations submitted without consent will not be considered.
The submitted nomination form is regarded as a letter of support. Nominators are encouraged to use the "Reason for Nomination" section of the nomination form as thoughtfully as possible.
The information gathered via the nomination form is used to verify whether a nomination is legitimate. It also allows ArtsNL to communicate with the nominee regarding questions, submission of support materials, and, if applicable, notify them of being an award finalist.
Information submitted via the nomination form is private and for internal use by ArtsNL staff and assessors during preparation for the Arts Awards.
FOR NOMINEES:
Award recipients are selected by a multidisciplinary assessor panel of professional artists from Newfoundland and Labrador.
ArtsNL staff and members of Council are not involved in the selection process.

ArtsNL will contact all nominees as soon as they are eligible to begin submitting support materials for their nomination(s). Nominees will receive an information package via email containing details about the submission process, including where to upload their desired support materials.

No. ArtsNL will provide you with a cloud folder to upload support materials. Any materials sent via social media will not be considered.
The nomination form submitted by your nominator is regarded as a letter of support and nominees are not required to submit additional letters. However, you are free to do so, if desired.
When considering your nomination(s), the assessors will read your bio when reviewing your support materials. The bio will help them gain insight into your artistic journey.
If you are shortlisted for an award, your bio and headshot will be used in all Arts Awards-related publicity. By supplying these items, ArtsNL can represent you accurately.

You must supply a short paragraph of approximately 100-200 words. You may also include two versions of your bio: one longer bio and the shorter single-paragraph version.
Anything you feel is important in representing you and your art should be included in your bio. The assessors will read the bio when reviewing your support materials, which will help them gain insight into your artistic journey. If you are shortlisted, details of your bio will be used to represent you in promotional materials for the Arts Awards ceremony.
