Year of the Arts Update
Aug 10, 2023
ArtsNL is pleased to be partnering with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador on the 2024 Year of the Arts initiative! As a result of this initiative, we will be able to invest an additional $2M into the arts community. This additional funding will significantly enhance opportunities for the direct creation and production of artistic activities across the disciplines of theatre, music, literary, visual arts, dance, film, multi-disciplinary, and Indigenous arts.
Expect to see increases to the maximum amount individual professional artists can receive in PPGP, as well as a new artistic field to support the adaptation of published/presented Newfoundland and Labrador literature to other platforms within the PPGP, a program for later-stage artists, a one-time project creation fund for professional arts organizations to create new work, and an Indigenous Arts Program.
The first program to roll out with additional Newfoundland and Labrador Year of the Arts funding is the Professional Project Grants Program (PPGP). The deadline for applications to the fall 2023 PPGP is October 3, 2023. There will be plenty of time to apply to additional programs made available through Year of the Arts, more information will be forthcoming through our website and socials in the weeks to come.
We would like to thank you in advance for your patience as our small team undertakes these temporary enhancements to our programming, made possible through Year of the Arts funding, to support you in your artistic journey.
Thank you!
The ArtsNL Team
